Telemedicine Coming Soon to Research Medical Center
October 25, 2011
Telemedicine is coming soon to Research Medical Center. Telemedicine is a rapidly expanding area of healthcare that uses various telecommunication technologies to exchange medical information from one location to another, enabling physicians and medical institutions to treat and consult with physicians, clinicians and patients in hospitals.
Telemedicine provides a mechanism to deliver quality state-of-the-art healthcare and specialty services to rural and underserved areas, providing more efficient use of medical resources.
- Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States and the leading cause of adult disability.
- Approximately 795,000 strokes occur each year, and delays in diagnosis contribute to the mortality and disability associated with stroke.
Research Medical Center’s TeleStroke Program will support your community hospital by providing:
- 24-hour on-call stroke specialist
- Emergency department acute stroke consultation
Using real-time videoconferencing, our TeleStroke program will provide a 24-hour on-call neurologist to aid in prompt diagnosis and treatment of your stroke patients.
Our TeleStroke program will overcome geographic and transportation barriers with reliable technology that will allow immediate access to our stroke expert(s) who can provide consultation with your on-site providers to manage acute stroke as needed.
