Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery
Hamid M. Shah, MD, neurosurgeon, is offering patients spine surgery using the smallest access incision possible. This specialized procedure provides:
- Shorter length of hospital stay
- Less blood loss
- Less back pain
- Walking same day
- Traditional open surgery outcomes, with a minimally invasive incision
Dr. Shaw is the only fellowship trained, minimally invasive spine surgeon in the city. He is able to offer micro discectomies and lumbar fusion through a 16 mm tube and laminectomies through an 18 mm tube. These incisions can leave a scar less than one inch long. Traditional incisions can be as much as three to three and a half centimeters.
