Surgical Care at Research Medical Center
Whether inpatient or outpatient, at Research Medical Center we understand that there's no such thing as "routine" surgery and that patients and their families are concerned about surgical care. We work closely with patients, families and doctors to be sure that every question is answered and every concern addressed – including advice on how to prepare for your surgery, what to expect during your treatment and the best ways to make a fast, full recovery.
Innovative, Less-invasive Technology
In addition to traditional open surgeries, our services include minimally-invasive procedures for such conditions as knee repairs, kidney disease, gynecologic conditions including hysterectomy and cancer. Our minimally invasive techniques include arthroscopy, laparoscopy, robotic surgery and image-guided surgery with the STEALTH system for brain surgery and ENT treatments. These procedures offer less pain, less blood loss, fewer side effects, shorter hospital stays and shorter recovery times for a faster return to normal activities.
The da Vinci® robotic surgical system at Research provides minimal external incisions for precise, robotically-assisted surgery for gynecologic and gynecologic oncology procedures. Research Medical Center also operates the area’s only Gamma Knife®, a non-invasive approach to treat brain tumors using laser-guided, stereotactic radiosurgery.
