Recognition

The American Heart Association's and American Stroke Association's Primary Stroke Center certification recognizes our ability to treat patients with complex stroke symptoms. Our Accredited Chest Pain Center has also demonstrated expertise and commitment to quality patient care.

The Joint Commission's Advanced Certification in Heart Failure recognizes our advanced heart disease care. We have also been awarded Level I Trauma Center status by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

Kid-friendly emergency care

If your child has an injury or illness requiring immediate attention, our ER has the latest technology and a compassionate staff to provide fast, effective care. In fact, HCA Midwest Health ERs in the Kansas City metro beat the national average for pediatric ER readiness and treat nearly 25,000 kids each year.

Obstetric ER for pregnancy-related emergencies

Should difficulties arise during pregnancy, such as heavy bleeding, a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy, we are ready to provide specialized care in our ER as an extension of our labor and delivery services. Our in-house OB hospitalists will act as the emergency physician and treat any obstetric patient who would normally be seen by the on-call staff physician. Because OB hospitalists are always on site, they can perform immediate surgery or manage problems and consult with the patient’s primary OB/GYN.

Specialized chest pain treatment

When someone experiences chest pain symptoms, it is crucial to get them medical help fast. Our hospital is an accredited chest pain center with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), recognizing our ability to quickly diagnose and treat chest pain.

Time-sensitive care for stroke symptoms

If you're experiencing stroke symptoms, you need a quick diagnosis and care to achieve the fullest recovery possible. At our Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center, certified by The Joint Commission, our neurologists and ER doctors work together to treat the most complex stroke symptoms. Our ER is also a Missouri Time Critical Diagnosis (TCD) Level I Stroke Center.

Stroke patients receive care from an array of specialists, including case managers, social workers and therapists. Together, we help patients regain their strength and mobility.

Following ER treatment with aftercare services

At Research Medical Center, we want you to recover well. That is why our network created Care Connect — an ER visit follow-up service.

After an ER visit, specialists will share what they learned from your test results. Then, they will talk with you about any issues and possible concerns. Finally, they will make recommendations about your health and treatment options moving forward.

Emergency care is the treatment of emergent medical conditions. It is generally performed in an emergency room, but can also refer to treatment in an ambulance. Emergency medicine physicians may treat patients with injuries or infections, in addition to life-threatening conditions.
