Obstetrics and gynecologic services

Our women's care specialists include obstetrician gynecologists (OB/GYNs) who are experts in female reproductive health, pregnancy, labor and childbirth.

Gynecologic care

There are many issues unrelated to pregnancy and childbirth that affect women. For these conditions, we have board-certified gynecologists who are experts in maintaining women's breast and reproductive health. Our doctors perform gynecologic surgery and offer urogynecologic care for conditions that also affect the urinary tract.

Our surgical care, which includes minimally invasive procedures, offers solutions for a wide range of conditions, including pelvic floor prolapse and urinary incontinence.

Labor and delivery

The doctors at our hospitals provide full-service care for women during pregnancy, childbirth and early postpartum days. We are committed to maintaining your overall health throughout pregnancy. Prenatal education classes are also available to help prepare parents for life with a newborn through our Healthy Arrivals program.

Over 6,000 babies are delivered at HCA Midwest Hospitals every year. Mothers choose our facilities time and time again for our labor and delivery experience, which includes comprehensive amenities and state-of-the-art birthing suites.

We help our patients achieve the birthing experience they desire. From natural births to emergency cesarean sections, we are here to accomplish your goals while keeping you and your baby healthy and safe. New moms can begin bonding with their newborns directly following birth, as we practice skin-to-skin contact and offer early breastfeeding support.

Certified nurse midwives (CNMs)

Midwifery care is provided by women's healthcare professionals who offer a range of services, including custom birth planning and vaginal birth after cesareans (VBACs). Midwives at our hospitals work with OB/GYNs to ensure patients receive safe, evidence-based care during childbirth, whether they desire a low intervention, natural birthing experience or assistance from pain relief options.

In addition to clinical support, our midwives help patients through education, encouragement and emotional support. This helps our patients feel more confident throughout pregnancy and delivery and allows them to take charge of their health during the postpartum period.

Support for you and your baby

If you or your baby require additional care before childbirth, you can work with maternal-fetal specialists who are experts in treating patients experiencing a high-risk pregnancy. Antepartum units are available in our health system for pregnant women who require close monitoring as they carry their child to full-term.

When needed, our perinatal surgeons are available to perform fetal surgery to give your child the best start to life possible.

Neonatal intensive care

Our hospitals provide high-level care for newborns who require treatment in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). We treat a wide range of newborn conditions in these specialized units, from premature births to neonatal abstinence syndrome. Newborns in our care are monitored 24/7, and parents are encouraged to visit their children as often as possible.

Neonatal abstinence syndrome

Neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) is the term used for newborns with withdrawal symptoms from exposure to certain drugs during pregnancy. When this occurs, we do everything we can to ease symptoms, which normally present within three days of birth.

Infertility treatment

Facing infertility problems can be hard, but we are here to help patients identify their issues with conception and find effective fertility care. We perform diagnostic tests to determine potential causes and provide a variety of treatment options, including minimally invasive procedures and in-vitro fertilization (IVF).

Breast health services

We proudly offer a variety of breast cancer screening services, giving women in our community access to the routine care needed to maintain their health. In addition to 3D mammograms, we perform breast ultrasounds and breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to ensure every patient receives the thorough screening they deserve. We also use soft pads during screening mammograms to enhance patient comfort.

Schedule a Mammogram

You can now schedule a screening mammogram online. For assistance scheduling your screening or diganostic mammogram please call (816) 823-0011 .

If an abnormality is found during an exam, we offer diagnostic imaging and biopsy services to make a diagnosis. If breast cancer is confirmed, our patients are backed by the power of Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at HCA Midwest Health. Our hospitals provide comprehensive cancer care that includes access to a dedicated breast cancer nurse navigator.
