Research Medical Center—part of HCA Midwest Health System, Kansas City’s largest healthcare network—has opened a 30-bed adult inpatient psychiatric unit. The new unit, which will be managed by Research Psychiatric Center (RPC), is located on the seventh floor of Research Medical Center and will treat adults with a range of psychiatric illnesses in an inpatient setting.
The unit will provide a full range of inpatient psychiatric services, including group and individual therapies, expressive therapy, as well as social service, nursing and pharmacy support. Ample space will be provided for dining, activities, groups, consultations, admissions, staff support and patient areas, including semi-private rooms and large patient day rooms. The $2 million-dollar newly remodeled seventh floor once housed the original psychiatric unit prior to the construction of RPC in 1985.
“As part of Research Medical Center’s history of high-quality patient care, Research Psychiatric Center is pleased to be managing a state-of-the-art psychiatric service for adult patients with the clinical resources of a dedicated staff who are experienced in treating a wide array of psychiatric disorders,” says RPC Chief Executive Officer Richard Failla. “This new unit is emblematic of our commitment to provide quality and accessible patient care and will serve to meet the ever-expanding needs of adult patients in the Greater Kansas City metro area.”
