WHO: Research Medical Center - The Research Foundation
WHAT: Eighth Annual Community Block Party and Health Fair promoting healthy, fit families hosted by The Research Foundation and sponsored by Research Medical Center. Free health screenings, half- or one-mile Fun Walk, family-oriented activities, free bike helmet giveaways and areas including Eat Healthy, Get Fit, Be Happy and Injury Prevention will be featured, along with a Children’s Activity Area sponsored by Research College of Nursing. The Injury Prevention area will feature the KCMO Police Department, the KCFD and the Missouri Highway Patrol. There will be a yoga demonstration at 11:30 a.m. and a Zumba demonstration at 12:15 p.m.

WHY: Research Medical Center — part of HCA Midwest Health, Kansas City’s leading healthcare provider — invites its neighbors to attend this annual event that hosts more than 80 health-related organizations in addition to free health screenings offered by community organizations including blood glucose, body mass index, HIV and posture health and kidney risk assessments. Research Medical Center will offer free blood pressure checks.
Healthy cooking demonstrations will take place at 10:45 and 11:45 a.m. Event attendees can also participate in the half-mile or one-mile Fun Walk, with the first 25 walkers receiving a prize. A Children’s Activity area will be sponsored by the Research College of Nursing, with the first 250 children receiving free bicycle helmets from the Brain Injury Association of Kansas and free books distributed by the Greater Kansas City and the Kansas City Public Libraries. The Children’s Activity Area will also feature carnival games, a moonwalk, face painting and the Kansas City Zoomobile will be onsite.
